The FDA recommends keeping calories from sugar (both natural and added) at no more than 10 percent of your daily calorie intake. The new labelling should make this easier, since it will include a percentage of sugar in a serving size based on a standard calorie intake for the entire day.

What to Expect in 2018

New labels were intended to be the status quo starting in 2018. Unfortunately, the new administration is putting this change on hold until 2020. For the next two years, complying to new label rules is optional.
